Cardiff Wedding Photographer, South Wales
About me
I've been a photographer for over 10 years and I shoot documentary art projects as well as weddings. If you would like to have your day captured by someone whose whole life revolves around image making, you're in the right place. I love shooting weddings and pride myself on being a bit different. When I'm not shooting weddings I'm either surfing, playing in punk rock bands, training for triathlons or chasing our naughty springer spaniel Coco. I also work on documentary art projects to raise awareness and fundraise on issues like mental health. Although I live in South Wales I work all over the UK, Europe and North America for destination weddings.
I’m passionate about social documentary work and I dedicate a lot of time to fund raising for mental health organisations. It was a large part of my work for the Ma at Falmouth University. This is me getting ready for my first olympic distance triathlon, I gave myself 2 months to train and managed to raise over £250 for Heads Above the Waves, an awesome mental health non profit helping young people in Cardiff south Wales. That water was super cold I couldn’t feel my feet for a while after ! Luckily I had some awesome support from some amazing South Wales businesses ; The Bike Shop Wales and Run and Become Cardiff.
Why am I telling you this?
Your wedding day is one of the most personal days of your life. You should hire someone you click with. I absolutely love what I do and if you're looking for someone to capture your day with an art-documentary style then look no further.
A quick search will confirm that there are like a billion wedding photographers and videographers in south Wales. That means you can be picky, well you should be anyway right.
I like to tell everyone what I’m all about. I'm different to a lot of other wedding photographers and videographers. It’s important to me (and it should be for you) that we click. Although I make a living as wedding photographer I strongly believe there’s way more to life then making money. I work with people I connect with and love it. I don’t try and book every wedding under the sun and I’m for everyone. If you’re after a wedding photographer to tick it off the list or your not bothered about the photographs you get then I’m not your guy. If you’re after someone that actually makes an effort to hang out and get to know you before the big day and pours their heart and soul into everything they do then I could be a good fit for you.

Our Adventure So Far
Since then I have travelled the world and developed my work in places such as South Korea and Vietnam. I met my best friend and partner Becky in Daegu (South Korea) whilst working as English Teachers. We travelled back to start our new journey together in the UK. Becky and I now live near Cardiff and love being next to the beach in Barry.
If you want to look at the art projects I shoot outside of weddings you can take a look here - www.chrischucas.com.
Becky and I got married in 2017, if you want to read about how a wedding photographer proposed you can read it here.
There are so many photographers and so much information on the internet how do I know if we’re a good fit?
The best way to find out is to have a look at some of the info and then drop me a message to hang out for a chat. You should know what makes your wedding photographer jump out of bed everyday. Which for me is… connecting with like minded coup[es and telling their story in a personal way. Always with a huge smile on my face and barrels of high fives to dish out !
I love my job and that's why everyone I work with feels like their friend is with them. You won’t find me clock watching or sulking at any point I genuinely freaking love what I do.
It's really important to have the right person with you on the day. It's not all about the photography, it's about the human being with the camera, it’s about everything click into place, being much more than a photographer and videographer. To my clients I'm a friend with a camera. Drop me a quick message via the contact form below and let's hang out for a chat.
If you think this sounds like the person you want to be with you on your wedding day please get in touch, I'd love to hear from you. I always want to meet up and talk about weddings. We can grab a coffee and go over all of your big plans before you make any decisions. You need to make sure you have the right person with you on the day so we should meet before you make up your mind.
One point to mention is that if you think you have anything a bit unusual or a venue or theme that's a little different then just let me know and I might be able to work out a different package for you.
Come say hi
I'd love to hear from you and I always have time to talk about ideas, venues, and everything about your wedding. I offer free engagement shoots with all packages, and free consultations (coffee catch ups, dog walks, or drinks, whatever suits you) and we talk wedding plans.
I’m back at the stunning Canada Lake and Lodge today to watch the lovely Carys and Dave tie the knot. It’s amazing being part of such an important day (or the biggest day) in most people’s lives and I love being in the thick of it! Capturing real emotion and happy memories. It’s always a bonus when couples choose venues surrounded by so much natural beauty. A small part of the day I love to make photos with the couple and it won’t be long until I set off with Dave and Carys to do just that.
It’s been a tremendous morning - Carys and Dave have a lovely bunch of family and friends. Another reason I love what I do - I’m a people person, so getting to know new people and feeling like an addition to the family is what I aim for! There is so much love here today it’s awesome and I can’t wait to see what will get started tonight!!
