- Why I think it's important to spend time with your wedding photographer.
December is here Christmas lights are popping up everywhere. It’s that time a year for wrapping up warm, woolly hats, lives and embarrassing Christmas jumpers, yes!
I’m writing this from my office wrapped up warm with a nice cup of tea courtesy of my lovely wife, in addition to this tea, I have a smile that reaches from ear to ear and I’ll tell you why. I’ve just finished editing Chloe and Damien’s engagement shoot from a week or two ago. I offer engagement shoots with all of my packages because I think it’s really important to spend quality time with couples before the big day. Engagement shoots are the perfect way to hang out, catch up, chat about wedding plans and get some beautiful photos to capture two lovers before they tie the knot. It also reassures people who think they will take terrible photographs (most people lol) and they can get excited about wedding photography ideas and how we can make it personal special and unforgettably unique for them. I feel like it’s part of the story of the before and the wedding is kind of like the second part of that.
We all met at in Barry and took some photos at both Porthkerry Park and also the beach. We are so spoilt for choice with wedding venues in South Wales but also beautiful locations to take wedding and engagement photos. I loved spending time with Chloe and Damien and like I said to them, I’m loving spending time with all of my couples because I put myself across as open and honestly as I do I think I’m getting people that are perfectly matched to my laid-back relaxed way of working. Some people want a really strict tight lipped old-fashioned type of photographer and I am not that person. My perfect clients are people that want to hire a passionate photographer that’s easy to be around and basically a friend. It barely feels like work, so I asked the guys a few questions that might be helpful for couples that have still yet to do a lot of tasks for the wedding planning and I also asked them to talk about engagement shoots. I feel a lot of people that having met me and had a chat yet might not really get engagement shoots and what there like. I hope that it’s helpful for you all and I would love to hear what everyone thinks of the photos.
If you think having a really chill laid-back person with you is important when hiring a wedding photographer and videographer drop me a message here. Check out the rest of the images below. Don’t forget to check me out on
Tips From Chloe, a very excited Canada Lake and Lodge Bride:
What made you pick Canada lake and lodge?
It’s the only wedding venue we could see ourselves getting married at. It's perfect! We love how idyllic it is in its simplicity. The view from every window is just beautiful.
Have you got anything left to plan or book?
We pretty much have everything under control, we've got to focus on the decorations more now, however our venue is so beautiful were lucky that we don't have to do to much.
Do you have any tips for brides yet to book most things?
Enjoy it. Don't think into your decisions too much, if you like something just roll with it. It's important not to forget why you’re getting married in the first place. Everything will fall into place. It's the best time of your life.
Can you talk a little bit about your engagement photos for couples yet to book a photographer….
I think the engagement shoot is essential. I felt a bit awkward at first, it's surprising how hard it is to 'act natural, but after a few shots we got into it and started to really enjoy it. It’s reassuring that our wedding photos will be great from the beginning because we've had the experience in front of the camera beforehand. Chris makes you feel like he's known you for years. The whole day was so enjoyable, he has loads of ideas which are so different to other photographers. It genuinely felt like we are hanging around with a friend who captured all the fun we had that day.
We absolutely love our engagement photos and plan to use them in our wedding. We love the idea of having a canvas with all our guests signing around it. The only difficult thing to that would be, which photo we would choose because they are all so amazing!
